Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of Asian Pan-Pacific Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (APPSPGHAN) and Thai Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology (TSPGH), I am very pleased to welcome you all to the 2020 APPSPGHAN PIBD Masterclass. As international air travel has been severely restricted in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to host the event online and to postpone the hands-on endoscopy workshop until 2021. The APPSPGHAN PIBD Masterclass will be held virtually on 6-7 November 2020. The exact dates for the workshop will be announced as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
The PIBD Masterclass aims to expand knowledge and practical management in pediatric IBD, which is an emerging problem in the Asia-Pacific area, for colleagues in the region and across the world. The event will lead to better care for our children with IBD and serve the APPSPGHAN's mission which is to expand knowledge in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition in the region as well as stimulating research studies in these fields. This event could not have been realized without the great contributions and dedication of the organizing committee and all distinguished speakers to whom I want to express my deepest appreciation.
I look forward to seeing you all join us.
With kind regards,
Professor Suporn Treepongkaruna, MD.
I trust that all of you are keeping well in the midst of this COVID19 pandemic. The PIBD Masterclass committee after some deliberation felt that it would be safer for all of us if we converted our inaugural Masterclass from an in-person workshop to a webinar. This would allow us to still go ahead and deliver a comprehensive program, regardless of any travel restrictions and health concerns that may still be present in November 2020.
The PIBD Masterclass webinar would be held over 2 days (Friday 5th November & Saturday 6th November). We will have experts in their respective fields share insights and practical tips about the diagnosis and management of PIBD, contextualised to Asia.

Chairperson, APPSPGHAN PIBD Masterclass Organizing Committee
As we previously announced that the 2nd Hands-on Course in Pediatric Therapeutic GI Endoscopy will be held on November 7-8, 2020, on behalf of the Endoscopic Workshop Organizing Committee, I would like to inform you that the Hands-on Course will be postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19 situation.
The different timelines and strategies of gradual withdrawal of pandemic prevention measures adopted by individual countries have made it impossible to organize the Hands-on Course. It might well be the case that the traveling restrictions and social distancing measures will not be in place in November 2020. The Organizing Committee foresee that it will take time for the situation to resolve, and this difficult decision to postpone our event was made to ensure a safe for all our speakers and participants from the region.
The conference is not cancelled but probably postponed to 2021. The Organizing Committee are looking for suitable alternative timing of the 2nd Hands-on Course in Pediatric Therapeutic GI Endoscopy and we will announce the new dates when the situation is resolved soon.
With best regards,
Seksit Osatakul, MD.
