Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of Asian Pan-Pacific Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (APPSPGHAN) and Thai Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology (TSPGH), I am very pleased to welcome you all to the "APPSPGHAN PIBD Masterclass and the 2nd Hands-on Course in Pediatric Therapeutic GI Endoscopy" which will be held in Bangkok, on 27-29 April 2020. The meeting aims to expand knowledge and practical management in pediatric IBD, which is an emerging problem in the Asia-Pacific area, for colleagues in the region and across the world, as well as improve skills in endoscopic therapeutic interventions used in treatment of various, often life-threatening, gastrointestinal diseases. The event will lead to better care of our children and serve the APPSPGHAN’s mission to expand knowledge in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition in the region as well as stimulate research studies in these fields. This event could not have been realized without the great contributions and dedication of the organizing committee for which I want to express my deepest appreciation.
I look forward to seeing you all join us very soon in the beautiful city of Bangkok, which is well-known among tourists across the world for its unique blend of traditional Thai culture and food, as well as its shopping experiences and modern conveniences. I am confident that you will have a great and memorable experience in Bangkok apart from the academic activities that we offer.
With kind regards,
Professor Suporn Treepongkaruna, MD.
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in our inaugural Masterclass in Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PIBD), to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 27th April 2020. This Masterclass is organised in collaboration between APPSPGHAN and TPSGH. As we may know, the incidence of IBD has been on the rise in the past 1-2 decades. This is a phenomenon seen not only in the West, but also in Asia. We believe it is timely and important that the diagnosis and management of children in Asia with IBD be contextualised to this region. We have planned a 1-day program that aims to be comprehensive and at the same time practical, providing clinicians and healthcare professionals with greater insight and tips to their management.
Marion Aw, MD.
Chairperson, APPSPGHAN PIBD Masterclass Organizing Committee
On behalf of the Endoscopic Workshop Organizing Committee, it is an honor and a pleasure to invite you to join the upcoming two-day "2nd Hands-On Course in Pediatric Therapeutic GI Endoscopy", to be held on 28-29th April, 2020, in Bangkok, Thailand. This being a collaboration between the Thai Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology and APPSPGHAN.
The course is designed to cover both theory and practice of essential pediatric therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The scientific program is detailed as follows:
This workshop is truly a ‘hands-on‘ training course, in which all participants are able to practice endoscopic techniques on biological models as well as manikins for a full day, under the supervision of regional and international experts.
The course will cover 11 therapeutic endoscopic procedures, which are essential for treatment of various, common pediatric gastrointestinal problems, including hemostatic techniques, balloon dilatation, gastrostomy tube placement, foreign body removal, polypectomy and difficult colonoscopy.
We hope to see you on 28-29th April, 2020 in Thailand, for a prominent and practical endoscopic workshop. Additionally, we hope you take timeout to enjoy our beautiful country as well.
With best regards,
Seksit Osatakul, MD.
